Happy Birthday to the GodFather of Funk George Clinton!

Here’s a few fun facts about the legendary George Clinton.

1) Clinton was born in Kannapolis, North Carolina and raised in New Jersey

2) The mastermind behind the bands Parliament and Funkadelic

3) Innovator of funk music along with James Brown and Sly Stone

4) Clinton formed a Doo Wop group called The Parliaments during his teen years

5) Produced albums for Bootsy Collins and Red Hot Chili Peppers to name a few

6) Worked with Tupac Shakur on the song “Can’t C Me”, Ice Cube on the song and video for “Bop Gun (One Nation)” and Outkast on the song “Synthesizer.”

7) In 2009, Clinton was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame.

8) During the 1960’s Clinton was a staff songwriter for Motown

9) Has an Honorary Doctorate of Music from the Berklee College of Music.

10) Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic.
