Monday could be the first of many days of cancelled classes in some eastern North Carolina public school systems as the cleanup continues for Hurricane Irene.
Carteret, Craven, Currituck, Edgecombe, Halifax, Jones, Nash-Rocky Mount, Northampton, and Wayne county schools won’t be in secession Monday.
Many of the systems were in areas without electricity and won’t be able to reopen until power is restored.
