Performer: One Voice
One Voice the Hillside High School Drama Department’s premiere acting troupe, will be performing at Healthy, Wealthy, & Wise. One Voice is a voice for youth empowerment. The group consists of 8 – 12 students who are serious about Theatre and the Arts. The students are chosen amongst a group of nearly 100 active members in Theatre. They are responsible for representing the Theatre program at its highest standards.
The Acting Troupe performances are thought-provoking and entertaining.One Voice is dedicated to the creation of new works and performing about issues in today’s society. They perform several theatrical pieces called “See Me”, “Wake Up” and “We Mater”. The pieces navigate in a circular manner from the present to the past and encompass the trials and tribulations of the African American culture today.
The words, songs, and movements embody the essence of the culture that is deeply rooted in American history.One Voice has performed in Beijing, China; Sydney, Australia; East and West Africa; London, England; Osaka, Japan; Lima, Peru; Santa Cruz, California; as well as many other states, churches, colleges, and universities, including Duke University and The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. The group recently returned from performing in Cuba. Performer: Maurice Lauchner
Maurice “Man” Lauchner is one of the most soulful and distinctive voices in inspirational music today, Maurice “Man” Lauchner offers a refreshing interpretation of God’s love through song.
Born in New York and raised among some of the finest singers in the area, Maurice had the captivate an audience with his moving sound since he was a young man. Man’s broad vocal range and acting abilities have afforded him opportunities to touched audiences throughout the U.S. and across the world. He has lent his vocal and acting talents to “The Untold Story of Emmitt Louis Till”, Carly Simon’s Moonlight Serenade on the Queen Mary (Background Vocals), The Cosby Show(Characters Ben & Herman). His most recent credits include featured performances with Tyler Perry’s “Madea Gets a Job”, “The Haves & the Have Nots”, “Aunt Bam’s Place”, and “A Madea’s Christmas” all currently on DVDs. He is currently on tour with stage play Madea On The Run.
Man completed his first CD, “Songs & Hymns From The Heart”, which is available online and he is currently working a sophomore project. His first single from this album is entitled, “I Can’t Live Without You” and it will be available for purchase this summer. Man’s love of music has also compelled him to mentor and coach vocally talented individuals. (Services available upon request)
Maurice has always loved performing, but his first love is his family. He and his wife Alicia have been married for 20 years (and counting). They share 3 amazing children, Todd, Maurice and Faith

Entrepreneur by day, music artist the rest of the time, Darius Carr (BooDaddy) fell in love with music at a young age, and has been writing music since the age of 15, His music has always reflected his circumstance and he’s never been afraid to shed light on real life issues from the BooDaddy Perspective, Though from a small town where he was surrounded by the realities of poverty, drugs, alcoholism, gang activity, and negativity he has always been able to elude being a statistic and has a strong desire to bring out the best in everyone in whatever he does. He aims to inspire, motivate and lead as many people by example as he is destined to in one lifetime, and he wants to remind everyone that whatever you do in life don’t forget to “Just Have Fun With It.”

Chenier’s style is considered to be Grown and Sexy. His music has been classified as “Feel Good Music”. Chenier’s sound has drawn comparisons to great vocalists like Brain McKnight and Babyface but he still feels he has a sound of his own. Like many great singers and performers, he credits being influenced by some of the greats such as Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, R.Kelly and Brian McKnight just to name a few. As self-proclaimed “Ambassador of R&B” Chenier, has been known to captivate audiences with his sound and stage presence. Chenier’s smash single One Fantasy, a beautiful love ballad which he wrote and arranged has received rave reviews from the Worldwide Songwriter’s Association and as a result became “Song of the Week” for 2 weeks in a row. Before the release of his debut album, he has been nominated for Male R&B Artist of the Year for 2009, 2011, and 2012 at the Carolina Music Awards. He is also the recipient of the Male R&B artist of the year at the 2013 Bull City Music Awards. Chenier is something that the music world has been missing; a fresh and sincere sound.
