One of the most famous TV mothers of all time is about to play another matriarch. Emmy winner Phylicia Rashad has been added to a recurring role in season three of Empire. Rashad will play Diana Dubois, the matriarch of one of New York’s oldest and most prominent African-American families. Her character will stop at nothing to help her ambitious son city councilman Angelo Dubois, (guest star Taye Diggs) get to the top.

One can only imagine the interaction with Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), Lucious (Terrence Howard) and the rest of the Lyon family. It sounds like its going to get a little heated on the new season of Empire.
