Allstate’s Quotes for Education program has partnership with the Tom Joyner Foundation to provide scholarships to students of Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Since 2009 Allstate has donated over $1 million dollars and this year’s program has raised over $100,000 thus far and is more than halfway toward their goal for the 2015 program.

Sharnada  Martin, a junior Accounting major at Delaware State University is the program’s student ambassador and winner of a scholarship that allowed her to pay off her tuition as well as secure her books for the year.

So what are her plans after graduation?

“I want to become a certified public accountant but I also want to be a Cosmologist so that I can have that to find back on.”

When asked why she thinks Allstate is so passionate about HBCUs, Sharnada says, “two areas that Allstate is committed to are education and diversity. With HBCUs being such an important part of the African-American legacy, Allstate has made it a priority to create programs that support this community.”
