A teacher took her middle and high school students to a sex shop to explain sex education. A listener believes that that was a good idea, as she thinks young people should be empowered with information. She wants to know when Shepherd thinks is the right time to explain sex to young people.
“That’s the last thing 11, 12 and 13-year-olds need to be seeing. Why couldn’t the person from the sex store come to the school? And did they get permission? That’s the kind of stuff I want to talk to my son about. I don’t want him buying the same stuff I got in my nightstand drawers? That teacher wanted to buy something for herself. Really? You’re going to take kids to a crack house to teach them about drugs? I’m not for that. I can’t even say on the air the names of the kind of stuff they have laying around.”

Adrian Peterson has returned to the Minnesota Vikings after his conviction on child abuse charges. Shepherd says that while she doesn’t believe all corporal punishment is unwarranted his treatment of his young son is child abuse in her view.
“I think we are forgetting how he was punished. Each situation is different. But I don’t like people in my home telling me how I can discipline my son. That’s a slippery slope. But then you have people like Adrian Peterson whose child had bruises on his scrotum. I think he needs to find another way. That doesn’t work. But when we grew up, we got whippings all the time. And I turned out crazy. But I made a nice career out of it.
