The Academy Award nominations were announced Thursday and to no surprise Oprah Winfrey’s ‘Selma’ was snubbed. The movie “Selma” only received two nominations — best picture and best song for “Glory,” by John Legend and Common. The movie about the civil rights movement, has been sweeping up the nominations throughout the awards season. It was nominated for a Golden Globe, it snagged a Critics Choice nomination, and is an NAACP Image Award nominee, and the African-American Film Critics Association named it the best film of the year.
Sadly, no one from the cast from Selma were nominated for an award. There were no African-American actors nominated at this year’s ceremony, this is the first time since 1998 where no actors of color received nominations.
Give a listen below to “Glory.”
