When the Arctic blast of cold air hits North Carolina, the Salvation Army will raise the white flag, a universal sign that cold nights and days are ahead for women and children in need. Right now, the Salvation Army is gearing up its 93 bed accommodations to help as many people as possible. Right now space is available, but continued freezing nights could create a waitlist.
Officials with the Helping Hand Mission, the Salvation Army and the Durham Rescue Mission need help from the public as the cold weather continues.
