Safety and fun is the focus at this years North Carolina State. Officials with the Department of Labor are confident each ride is safe and will continue to inspect and monitor rides throughout the Fair. You may recall an incident last year with the Vortex ride which sent five people to the hospital and left some with serious injuries.
We are at the beginning of flu season and the 2011 E. coli outbreak at the state fair is still fresh in many people’s mind. Officials at the state fair have set up hand washing stations to keep the public safe. There are ten stations throughout the fair and officials are urging fair goers to take advantage. Fair officials also say the Ebola scare is on the minds of the public as well, and according to the fair officials they will not be screening people as they come in nor inquire about recent travel.
The NC State Fair opens today at 3:00PM
