Actor Don Cheadle visited North Carolina on Saturday, July 28 to celebrate a national weekend of action with voter registration and canvass kickoff events. Sunday marked the 100 day milestone before Election Day, grassroots supporters across the state are highlighting what’s at stake for North Carolina’s small businesses and middle class families. Cheadle joined volunteers in affirming their commitment to re-electing President Obama to keep America moving forward.

Through the Obama’s campaign national Barbershop Program, Cheadle engaged in voter registration and volunteer recruitment efforts. Barber shop and beauty salon owners across North Carolina have strong platforms as opinion leaders in the African-American community, and Organizing for America (OFA) grassroots organizers are establishing continued relationships with these key small business leaders and supporters.

In Durham, Don Cheadle visited Joe’s Diner and the Platinum Cuts II barbershop, where he registered voters and encouraged others to get involved in the President’s grassroots campaign. At both the OFA Raleigh and Durham field offices, Cheadle thanked volunteers and kicked off voter registration drives and volunteer canvass shifts in celebration of the Weekend of Action.
