Ice cream and fast-food restaurant chain Dairy Queen, has confirmed a security breach at several locations were infected with the “Backoff” malicious software. The stores in the U.S were affected at various times from early August through early October. Customer names, card numbers and card expiration dates may have been breached. However, Dairy Queen said it was not aware of other personal information, such as Social Security numbers being compromised. The company is confident that the malware has now been contained and is offering one year of free identity repair services to customers.
