Teenagers in cities across the nation, including Baltimore, Los Angeles and Portland, are taking to the streets to protest President-elect Donald Trump’s win. Scores of students staged walk-outs on Monday to express their disdain for Trump. “We hope to get our rights and just get our freedom. We want less racism, stop the violence, all of that,” said a 14-year-old student. On Monday, students gathered at Mariachi Plaza in Los Angeles and marched to City Hall. They held signs that bared the words “Bridges Not Walls,” and “Be Kind Not Racist.” “Although it has been nearly a week since the presidential election, many students remain concerned about the outcome and want their voices to be heard,” said Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Michelle King. “These are important conversations that need to take place. We want our students to know they are not alone.” Read more.
