White House Correspondents' Dinner Party

For a brief moment, Larry Wilmore host of Comedy Central’s “The Nightly Show” was on a roll at the White House Correspondents dinner on Saturday. He took jabs at presidential candidates, the press and the HB2 law in North Carolina. As he was wrapping up his speech with what sounded like a sincere, heartfelt tribute to the nation’s first black president, the moment quickly turned a bit awkward.

“Words alone do me no justice. So Mr. President I’m going to keep it 100: Yo Barry, you did it my n-gg-,” Wilmore said, pounding his chest. “You did it.”

Social media users debated whether it was appropriate to use the word in front of President Barack Obama. Your thoughts? Do you think using the N-Word was appropriate for an event of this magnitude?
