Ford’s Freedom Unsung National Program is designed to honor everyday people that do extraordinary work in their local African-American communities. Pamela Alexander, Director of Community Development for Motor Company Fund, talks to the Tom Joyner morning Show about the initiative and announces Illinois’ Sylvester Lee as winner of the Unsung award.

“This is the first time we done the program nationally and of course we had to do with the Fantastic Voyage. There are so many people in our community that do things, that don’t expect anything in return,” Alexander said.

Sylvester “Sunshine” Lee has been inspiring youth through his African Dance Troupe and Community Performance Ensemble for over 35 years in Belleville, IL. Click the link above to hear the entire interview and to learn more about Sylvester’s contributions.
