New York Giants player Jason Pierre-Paul nearly put his career in jeopardy after a Fourth of July fireworks incident left him seriously injured. According to medical records, the defensive end got his right index finger amputated Wednesday, but he will still play during the 2015 season. Many would think that amputating a finger could be the end of a football player’s career, but Pierre-Paul said he will return to the league “sooner than people think.” After talking with family members and doctors, JPP decided that losing the finger would be best for his health. Aside from the amputation, he also has a fractured right thumb, which is expected to take longer to heal. Pierre-Paul will remain in the hospital for two to three more days. Read more.


“Growing Up Hip Hop” Will Delve Into the Lives of Hip-Hop Families

A new reality show will delve into the lives of the children of hip-hop legends. Growing Up Hip Hop, which is slated to air on WE tv, will follow the group as they try to make a name for themselves. The show will feature Master P’s son Romeo Miller, Rev. Run’s daughter Angela Simmons, Damon Dash’s son Damon “Boogie” Dash, James DeBarge’s daughter Kristinia DeBarge, and others. Growing Up Hip Hop profiles what it’s like to be raised by hip-hop legends, living in their shadow while trying to balance success and independence. “This series will be right at home in our growing line-up focused on the authenticity and the challenges of real people and real relationships, and we can’t wait to share these distinctive original stories with WE tv viewers,” said WE tv’s President Marc Juris. The show, which is executive produced by John Morayniss and Tara Long, will air later this year. Read more.

After news spread that Bill Cosby drugged women he intended to have sex with, those who spoke out in the comedian’s defense are facing backlash. Talk show host Whoopi Goldberg said she has been receiving threats after taking a stand for Cosby. “People have been coming after me and saying they’re going to snatch my family,” Goldberg told her audience on The View. “Not any of you threatening me or telling me you’re coming after me because you don’t like what I said is going to change the fact that no one has convicted him, he has not been arrested, and the bottom line is that’s the law — innocent, until proven guilty.
