If you’ve been following social media, you’ve probably seen photos and coverage of the viral “belly button challenge. The bellybutton challenge seems to be a test to see if you’ve got a ‘good body’, if you can’t do it, the next step is to lose weight until you can. Have you been tempted to try it? I tried it and no, I couldn’t do it, I guess I need to hit the gym more often.
It’s ironic that most of the participants are young females. Fitness, nutrition, and psychological experts have several concerns that focusing on a craze that encourages being extremely skinny is potentially damaging to a person’s self-esteem.
My take on this craze, longer arms and flexibility can increase a person’s ability to perform the task. You don’t need any one, especially social media telling you about feeling good about yourself.
