7 Health Problems That Doctors Miss In Women (thumbnail)

Colon cancer claims nearly 50,000 lives each year and is the nation’s second leading cause of cancer death when both sexes are combined. Most colon cancers are preventable and treatable if detected early.

Colorectal cancer signs and symptoms include rectal bleeding or blood in the stool, persistent cramping or abdominal pain and unexplained weight loss.

Medical experts recommend screening for all men and women starting at age 50 – earlier if you’re at a higher risk. Several colon cancer screening methods are available, including low dose CT colonography, a less invasive alternative to conventional colonoscopy. Talk to your doctor about when you should begin screening and which test is best for you.

Remember – colon cancer is highly treatable if detected early.
