Mobile users will soon have a new way to try transit in the Triangle.  Triangle Transit is the first transit system in the region to offer a mobile app in iOS and Android. In addition to the new mobile app, www.triangletransit.org gets a new look.  Both will go live on August 19.

“The mobile app makes it more convenient to search for routes, schedules and stops,” said Lauren Parker, Marketing Manager for Triangle Transit.  “In designing both the mobile app and the new Web site, we wanted them to be easy to navigate with just a few clicks, improve the ability to plan trips and view maps and make it more convenient for riders to buy passes they’ll need when they travel with us.”

Another feature of the new sites will be “My Ride,” which allows a customer to create personalized route info and alerts for them.   If there’s a detour, route change, or bad weather affecting their trip the rider will know it in seconds.

There is also updated schedule and fare information, a new video library, a customer newsletter, rider stories, a “text to speech” (TTS) converter in compliance with ADA, a “swag store” offering Triangle Transit merchandise and access to Facebook posts or tweets.

The new mobile app and new triangletransit.org come after more than a year of research and design work by Communications & Public Affairs staffers, including a survey of customers on ways the new sites could better work for them.

Triangle Transit improves the region’s quality of life by connecting people and places with reliable, safe, and easy-to-use travel choices that reduce congestion and energy use, save money, and promote sustainability, healthier lifestyles, and a more environmentally responsible community.
