Bundle up the babies this evening, grab your gloves and ice skates for the opening of Winterfest in downtown Raleigh. A portion of Fayetteville street will be transformed into an outdoor ice rink. The 45-by-90-foot rink – which can hold up to 140 skaters – will serve as a centerpiece for Raleigh Winterfest, a two-month celebration with carriage rides, sledding ramps, Victorian carolers and performances by local musicians and dancers.
Winterfest officially opens after the mayor’s tree lighting and a concert by The Breakfast Club, a 1980s tribute band.
