- The offseason provides a rare opportunity for athletes to plan and celebrate weddings amid busy sports schedules.

For professional athletes, especially those in the NBA and NFL, there really isn’t much of an “off” button during the season. Between practices, film sessions, games, travel, treatment, media obligations and everything else that comes with playing at the highest level, much of the fall, winter and spring can feel like one long grind.
That makes the summer especially valuable. It’s a chance to step away from the nonstop schedule, spend real time with family and reconnect with the people who help keep everything grounded when the cameras are off. Behind just about every athlete is some type of support system, and for plenty of players, their significant other has been right there through trades, injuries, playoff runs and all the uncertainty that can come with professional sports.
It’s also why summer has unofficially become wedding season around the sports world. Trying to plan a ceremony during an NBA playoff push or in the middle of an NFL season is almost impossible, so the offseason provides one of the few stretches when players can actually slow down long enough to enjoy one of the biggest moments of their lives.
And just like most years, summer 2026 provided plenty of weddings. NBA champions, All-Stars and NFL stars all said “I do,” with ceremonies ranging from intimate courthouse affairs to massive, celebrity-filled celebrations. Here are some of the sports stars who got married during the offseason.
Trey Jemison & Alex Jean Glover
Trey Jemison and sports broadcaster Alex Jean Glover celebrated their marriage on August 21 with a “Western chic” wedding at Southall Meadows in Franklin, Tennessee. The two first connected during the summer of 2024 and officially began dating that December, but there was a twist for their roughly 100 guests: Jemison and Glover revealed that they had actually secretly eloped in Antigua on August 3, 2025, one day after getting engaged. Their Tennessee celebration included Southern food, a live saxophonist, custom cowboy hats and even a mechanical bull.
Kevon Looney & Mariah Simone Winston
Kevon Looney married his longtime love and college sweetheart Mariah this summer at Bella Vista Estate in Santa Barbara, California. The two initially started as friends before their relationship grew into something more, giving Looney another major milestone after a career already filled with championship rings. Several of his former and current NBA teammates were on hand for the outdoor ceremony.
Tyrese Haliburton & Jade Jones
Tyrese Haliburton and Jade Jones’ relationship goes all the way back to Iowa State, where Haliburton played basketball, and Jones was a cheerleader. The couple, who began dating in 2019, first made things legal with a courthouse wedding in Indianapolis on July 21 before holding their larger “Hali Ever After” celebration in Dallas on August 1 with family, friends, Pacers teammates, coaches and staff in attendance. Haliburton had proposed one year earlier on the basketball court at Iowa State’s Hilton Coliseum, bringing their story back to where it all started.
Donovan Mitchell & Coco Jones
After keeping much of their relationship private, Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones officially became husband and wife on August 1 at a private residence in New York State. The two first met in person at Michael Rubin’s White Party in 2023 and got engaged during a vacation in July 2025, before putting together a wedding wardrobe made entirely in collaboration with Black designers. Their guest list included some serious star power too, with Ciara and Russell Wilson joining NBA players Jaylen Brown, Jalen Brunson and Bam Adebayo for the celebration.
Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift
Few weddings this summer — athlete or otherwise — were bigger than Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift finally making it official. After beginning their relationship in 2023 and getting engaged in August 2025, the two were married at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 3, with Adam Sandler officiating, Jason Kelce serving as best man and Austin Swift serving as man of honor. Jennifer Lopez, Ed Sheeran, Jimmy Fallon, Abby Wambach and several other celebrities attended the massive celebration, which capped one of the most publicized celebrity relationships of the last several years.
JuJu Smith-Schuster & Laura Kruk
JuJu Smith-Schuster and fitness instructor Laura Kruk tied the knot on July 10 at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel in Southern California, about three years after first meeting in January 2023. Their oceanside celebration mixed traditional wedding elegance with Smith-Schuster’s Samoan heritage, including Polynesian touches and an emotional Taualuga dance during the reception. Newlyweds Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were among the guests, along with Patrick and Brittany Mahomes and other members of Smith-Schuster’s NFL circle.
Karl-Anthony Towns & Jordyn Woods
Karl-Anthony Towns capped an already unforgettable year by marrying longtime girlfriend Jordyn Woods in Malibu on August 15. The two began dating in 2020 after years of friendship and got engaged on Christmas Eve 2025, with Towns personally designing Woods’ roughly 15-carat diamond engagement ring. Their all-black, star-studded wedding guest list included Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Teyana Taylor and several members of Towns’ extended basketball circle.
Tommy Paul & Paige Lorenze
Tennis star Tommy Paul also joined the newlywed club when he married Paige Lorenze on July 14 at Old Westbury Gardens on Long Island. Their relationship started with a little social media flirting in 2022, when Lorenze sent Paul a DM, and they eventually met at that year’s U.S. Open, beginning a relationship that culminated in a Nantucket engagement in 2025. Fellow tennis stars Taylor Fritz, Reilly Opelka and Frances Tiafoe were part of the wedding festivities, while Paul wore custom Burberry and Lorenze walked down the aisle in Carolina Herrera.
