University of North Carolina linebacker Allen Artis, has turned himself in amid misdemeanor charges of sexual battery and assault on a female. This comes one day after UNC sophomore Delaney Robinson, held a news conference accusing the player of raping her in February, and complaining about the university’s handling of the case, and felt compelled to seek charges as an individual. Typically, victims of sexual assault are not named, but, Robinson has come out publicly to tell her story.
Artis was accompanied by his attorney and was released by the magistrate on a $5,000 unsecured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday morning. Artis was suspended from the team on Tuesday.
