Natalie Hawkins, mother of Olympian Gabby Douglas, will be at the 2016 Allstate Tom Joyner Family Reunion to join Sybil Wilkes on the Expo Stage Sunday. The two will discuss what it took to raise an Olympic gold medalist in a social media world. Natalie talks to the Tom Joyner Morning Show and reveals that she’s just like any other parent.

“It’s such an important conversation to have right now I didn’t know we’d be at the forefront. Gabrielle is so kind and utterly generous.”
What does it take to raise an Olympian?
“I don’t feel that I’m that different from other parents. I was raised in a single parent home and I was always striving not to have that be my kids reality. Unfortunately that is what happened but I worked extra hard to make their lives amazing.”
