What a moment for Black History Month!
Check out this footage of Nina Simone performing Young, Gifted And Black on Sesame Street from 1972. Simone, a North Carolina native, co-wrote the song hoping it would “make black children all over the world feel good about themselves forever,” according to the New Yorker and Mic.com.
