Gov. McCrory is ordering tighter security measures at national guard recruiting facilities. It’s in response to last weeks shootings at military recruiting stations in Tennessee. The governor also ordered flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff today.

A campaign begins today to help enforce the use of seatbelts. The state highway patrol is ramping up efforts to enforce this law. In 2014, more that 300 occupants not wearing seatbelts died in our state.

Tonight, State House lawmakers debate a bill that limit who could decide to remove monuments like confederate statues. This measure would ban local governments and universities from removing monuments. Only the legislature would be able to approve such move.

State lawmakers discuss a bill today to move the NC presidential primary to March 15th. The primary is currently set for February.

LOCAL NEWS

Raleigh police are investigating after a car plowed into a median on Capital Blvd. It happened shortly before 2AM this morning near the old Buffaloe Road intersection. The drive is in the hospital, but the injuries are not life threatening

Police suspect alcohol was involved.

A bone marrow registration drive in Chapel Hill over the weekend was a big success. Organizers say nearly 400 people joined the bone marrow registry.
