Are you waiting for the right time to make the big leap or to leave an unhappy and unhealthy situation? There is some wisdom in doing your homework, getting your money together, preparing properly and getting the information that you need that will put you in the best situation possible. But if you’re using it as an excuse or you’ve done the work but you still haven’t leapt into the deep, this is the time to ask yourself, what am I afraid of?

Fear can be crippling, leaving you stuck and emotionally unable to get up and walk. Fear of hurt, fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of loss; it will cause you to forget that you could already walk, run and leap.

2 Timothy 1:7 says:

“God hath not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of sound mind.”

Fear often keeps us holding on to people, places and things longer that we are supposed to have them in our lives – to the point that we forget we could already move before we met them. We need to better understand their purpose in our lives so that once it’s been achieved, we can either grow with it or move on. Often we don’t believe in ourselves enough. We can’t imagine ourselves without the comfort of that thing.

It is not even that it’s the greatest thing; it’s just what we know. Why are we so afraid of the unknown? Even if you feel that you prefer to be in control and that’s your reasoning. I am challenging you to consider that control can be another form of fear.

According to Psychology Today, “One of the most prevalent fears people have is that of losing control. This is the fear that if you don’t manage to control the outcome of future events, something terrible will happen. People who are chronic sufferers from such losing-control anxiety keep themselves continuously in a heightened state of stress with only brief, unsatisfying intermissions between fears.”

The crux of the problem is the demand for certainty in a world that is always tentative and uncertain. It is precisely this unrealistic demand that creates the anxiety.

Do you want more and do you believe that you deserve more? Do you have the confidence to do whatever it takes to make your life happen at a higher level?
