American children eat as much salt as adults contributing to high blood pressure among children.The Center for Disease Control and Prevention conducted a study to reveal 6,200 kids between the ages of 8-18, consumed about 1,000 milligrams of salt. Children and teens with high blood pressure often become adults with high blood pressure which can lead to heart and kidney disease. Young people who are obese or overweight, the risk for high blood pressure is even greater. Many processed foods, canned, frozen, packaged and restaurant foods are often higher. It’s important for parents to read food labels and xperts also recommend that children exercise and eat a balanced diet including plenty of fruits and vegetables
