Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and current Allen Wrangler (Indoor Football League) general manager  Drew Pearson said Wednesday morning on “NFL AM” he thinks Terrell Owens still has a future in the NFL.

“I still think Terrell can play in the NFL,” Pearson said after the wide receiver was cut by the Seattle Seahawks earlier this week. “I was really surprised he got that opportunity (in Seattle) but he did get it. I think with that situation he dropped some passes, made some glaring drops and I think that doomed him in that situation.”

The Wranglers released Owens in May after three months, and Pearson said he believed Owens still had the talent to play in the NFL if not for the off-field issues.

This time around Pearson said the key is Owens finding a team who can give him time to readjust to the NFL game.

“If one team can give him time to knock off the rust, remember he hasn’t played in the NFL all last season, he’s coming off injury, if they can give him time, two or three games, say, to knock off that rust then I think he could still play in the NFL,” he said. “What we saw when he was with the Allen Wranglers, what I saw anyway, was a receiver that definitely had NFL caliber potential and could still play in the National Football League.”
