Campers will enjoy spending all day outdoors in groups of 20 based on birth date rotating through activities including arts and crafts, nature, hiking, boating, and games as the schedule and weather allow.

Wilkerson Nature Preserve offers fun summer programs in North Raleigh!
Family Twilight Hikes
Take a walk with a park naturalist to explore the woods and fields at twilight time (8:30-10 pm) on June 16, June 30, July 14 or July 28. Look for deer, coyotes, owls, toads, moths and lightning bugs. We’ll also do some star gazing if weather permits. If it rains, we’ll do an indoor activity related to nocturnal animals and tell spooky nature stories. Ages 4 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Eager Explorers
Preschool and parent can join us for one or more Tuesday mornings this summer from 10 to 11:30 am to explore animals at the nature preserve. There will be stories, crafts and nature walks on various themes. These programs are designed for a parent or other adult to attend with their preschooler. Program topics include Baby Mammals on June 19, Backyard Birds on June 26, Snakes and Lizards on July 10, Terrific Turtles on July 17, Flying Dragons on July 24, and Forest Bugs on July 31. Daring Discoverers
Ages 6-8 will discover the wonders of nature and make new friends on Wednesday mornings this summer from 10-11:30 am. The focus will be hands-on discovery and respect for nature and all living things. If it rains, we’ll do some inside activities and crafts. Topics include Furry Friends on June 20, Birds & Beaks on July 27, Scaly Predators on July 11, Awesome Rocks on July 18, and Water Critters on July 25. Awesome Adventurers
Ages 9-12 will have some awesome adventures on Thursday mornings from 10 am to noon at the nature preserve. We’ll study the oak-hickory forest, the grasslands, streams and rock outcrops of Wilkerson Nature Preserve and adjacent Falls Lake. Uncover some of nature’s secrets and learn how to feel at home in wild places. Topics include Mammal Study on June 21, Bird Brains on June 28, Reptile Hunt on July 12, Rock Walk on July 19, and Underwater Life on July 26. Please register in advance at reclink.raleighnc.gov.
