National recording artist Tamia, who is also married to N.B.A. player Grant Hill, says the perception given by VH1’s Basketball Wives “is misleading in terms of what our lives are about; I have friends who are married to athletes and they do charity work and are supportive wives; their husbands are supportive and great guys”. Many critics of Basketball Wives point out some women on the show aren’t married to anyone, let alone to an N.B.A. player; some of the women on the show are former wives of N.B.A. stars.
