The controversy surrounding the Wake County school board’s plan to assign students goes up for another debate Wednesday night. The issue is once again getting national attention – this time on a comedy show.

First, it was a story in The Washington Post, then a letter to the editor by the U.S. Secretary of Education. Now, news of Wake County public schools has turned into comedy material.

Comedian Stephen Colbert, of The Colbert Report on Comedy Central, devoted five minutes to mocking the school board’s assignment policies and one of its members.
