The Wake County Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Monday to discuss possibly reinstating bus service for students involved in after-school activities.
The bus service was cut in March when the board approved a $20 million reduction to the Central Services budget, according to Wake schools spokesman Michael Evans.
Prior to the cut, 65 activity buses were running across the county, logging nearly 2,000 miles a day, Evans said. Ending the service, which would drop students at community centers close to their homes, saved nearly $1 million.
