The late Poet Mya Angelou’s powerful words from her book, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” will have a hip-hop flavor on a new album entitled Caged Bird Songs. The hip-hop songs are produced by Shawn Rivera and RoccStar. Rivera is the lead singer of R&B group Az Yet, Roccstar is known for co-writing “Fine China” by Chris Brown.

Angelou’s grandson Colin A. Johnson, says “his grandmother was a fan of hip-hop, and saw it as this generation’s way of speaking and conveying a message, and a way to connect with younger generations.” Angelou had the chance to work on the album before passing away last May. Look for the album November 14, which will feature 13 songs.
