North Carolina Central University (NCCU) will install Dr. Debra Saunders-White as its 11th chancellor at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 4, at McDougald-McLendon Gymnasium. Saunders-White will deliver an Installation address, a Chancellor’s Reception will take place on Brant Street Plaza immediately following.
The university has planned a full week of events thru – April 5, to celebrate the Installation of NCCU’s first female permanent chancellor. The following activities are free and open to the public.
* Community Health Outreach Day on March 31, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the LeRoy T. Walker Complex. NCCU will provide free dental and health screenings. Information will be available for legal assistance, communication disorders and nutrition.
* NCCU Food Pantry Dedication at 1:30 p.m. in the Dent Human Science Building, second floor.
* Georges Bizet’s “Carmen” at 7 p.m. on March 31 in B.N. Duke Auditorium.
* “An evening with Judith Jamison” at 7 p.m. on April 1 in B.N. Duke Auditorium. Jamison is the artistic director emerita for the world-renowned Alvin Ailey Dance Theater.
* This year’s University Honors Convocation on Thursday, April 3, is a partnership between the Honors Program and Lyceum Committee and features media commentator, MSNBC co-host and author Touré.
