Professional athletes make the kind of money most people can only dream about, and NBA players are near the top of that list. Between max contracts, endorsement deals, signature sneakers and outside business ventures, the league’s biggest stars can build fortunes before they even hit 30. Naturally, some of that money eventually finds its way toward a few purchases that would make the average person’s bank account start sweating.
Cars and massive homes are always popular, but jewelry has become just as much a part of NBA culture. Players have been rocking pricey jewelry like diamond chains, watches, earrings and grills for decades, with the prices seemingly getting bigger, louder and more personalized every year. In many ways, the jewelry has become another extension of a player’s personality, not much different from the pregame tunnel fits that turned NBA arenas into unofficial fashion runways.
And the league’s relationship with jewelry goes well beyond simply buying the most expensive thing in the store. Some players commission completely one-of-one pieces built around their nicknames, jersey numbers, family members or personal logos. Celebrity jewelers like Jason of Beverly Hills, Icebox, Johnny Dang and others have practically become part of the NBA ecosystem, creating pieces specifically for players with enough disposable income to tell them to go crazy.
That brings us to Ja Morant. The two-time All-Star celebrated his 27th birthday on August 10 and apparently decided a regular birthday gift wasn’t going to cut it. Morant showed off a $250,000 GIA-certified diamond chandelier grill, instantly giving NBA fans another ridiculous piece of jewelry to talk about. Morant is far from alone, though.
From chains with moving parts to six-figure watches and insanely big diamond pendants, here are some of the most insane pieces of jewelry NBA stars have worn.
Ja Morant — $250,000 Diamond Chandelier Grill
Ja already had a serious jewelry collection before his latest purchase, including an Icebox logo pendant with more than 32 carats of diamonds and multiple matching diamond chains. But his 27th birthday grill may have topped it all. The chandelier-style set is reportedly GIA certified and valued at $250,000, which is a wild amount of money to have sitting directly on your teeth.
Dillon Brooks — The Courtside Villain Jewelry
Dillon Brooks turned hating into performance art when he showed up courtside for the Lakers’ playoff elimination game against Oklahoma City in May. Brooks sat under the basket dripping in jewelry — multiple diamond chains, a watch, rings and a diamond grill — while laughing and enjoying the Lakers’ downfall. There doesn’t appear to be a verified total price for the collection he wore that night, but visually, it was one of the more outrageous courtside flexes we’ve seen from an NBA player.
Brooks also has a huge “DB” diamond chain that became part of his trolling after dropping 33 points against the Lakers during the 2025-26 season.
LeBron James — The Light-Up Lion Gatekeeper Pendant
LeBron didn’t just buy a diamond lion. He bought a diamond lion whose eyes light up. The custom “Lion Gatekeeper” pendant from Iceman Nick was constructed from 130 grams of 14-karat gold and 35 carats of VS1 diamonds. Even crazier, pulling the movable door knocker hanging from the lion’s mouth activates glowing red eyes.
A confirmed purchase price wasn’t publicly disclosed, but between the diamond weight, gold and mechanical details, this is about as custom as NBA jewelry gets.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander — $60,000 “DON’T MIND MY DRIP” Chain
Of course, one of the NBA’s biggest fashion guys has jewelry to match. After arriving in Oklahoma City, SGA commissioned Jason of Beverly Hills to make his “DON’T MIND MY DRIP” necklace, turning one of his signature sayings into a 14-carat diamond statement piece.
The necklace has been estimated at roughly $60,000. It feels especially fitting for Shai because, unlike some giant traditional pendants, his piece basically doubles as a personal slogan and fashion accessory.
LaMelo Ball — $58,000 Iced Out Watch
LaMelo Ball has been iced out since practically the moment he entered the NA. Shortly after being drafted, he was already showing off custom grills, chains and massive earrings. One standout came when Ball was spotted wearing an iced-out watch reportedly valued at $58,000 while attending an AC Milan match in 2023.
And if we’re being real, picking only one piece is difficult. Jewelry has been part of his whole larger-than-life aesthetic since he was a teenager, so there are enough chains, watches and grills floating around to make a separate list just for him.
James Harden — Diamond Chains, Watches & The Custom No. 13 Pendant
Few NBA stars have embraced jewelry like James Harden. Harden once gave GQ an entire tour of his collection, showing off diamond-covered chains, watches and other pieces while explaining that he sometimes travels with several pieces depending on where the road trip is headed.
One of his more recognizable custom pieces is a rose-and-white-gold No. 13 pendant, featuring diamonds, colored enamel and a diamond basketball bail. Harden’s watch game might be even crazier: he has also been spotted in Richard Millie pieces, including customized versions of watches that already command enormous prices before diamonds or other modifications get involved.
Trae Young — The “Ice Trae” Diamond Chain
There might not be a more perfectly named jewelry piece in the NBA. After Trae Young’s rookie season, Quavo gifted the Hawks star a custom “Ice Trae” chain created by Atlanta jeweler Wafi. The pendant features a basketball covered in diamonds along with Young’s now-famous nickname.
A confirmed price was never publicly revealed, but it became one of the earliest pieces that helped connect Young’s “Ice Trae” nickname to his off-court image — years before the nickname became an established part of his brand.
Deandre Ayton — The Massive “DominAyton” Chain
Deandre Ayton took wordplay and turned it into diamonds with his massive “DominAyton” chain. The custom piece surfaced in 2026 and immediately started making the rounds online thanks to its oversized lettering and fully iced-out design.
There hasn’t been a reliable confirmed price attached to the chain, so we’re not going to invent one. But purely from a ridiculousness standpoint, a giant diamond pendant spelling out your own nickname absolutely belongs on this list.
Jayson Tatum — Diamond Audemars Piguet & Custom “J” Pendant
Jayson Tatum’s jewelry collection is a little more understated than some of the massive rapper-style chains around the league, but the price tags are anything but subtle. One standout is his yellow-gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak with a diamond-set bezel, while he’s also regularly worn his signature diamond “J” pendant.
Russell Westbrook — Azlee Diamond & Emerald Jewelry
Russell Westbrook has never been afraid to experiment with fashion, and his jewelry follows the same rules. Russ has repeatedly worn pieces from Azlee, including its Greek Pattern & Emerald Large Coin pendant, a Circle-Link chain featuring diamond pavé links and a Rich Emerald Bead Necklace. Instead of simply piling on huge diamond chains, Westbrook’s collection fits his reputation for treating clothes and jewelry like the actual fashion pieces.
Stephen Curry — Custom Diamond “SC” Pendant
Steph Curry might not be known for over-the-top jewelry the way some NBA stars are, but he still has some ridiculous custom pieces. One of the best is his rose-gold SC logo pendant covered in diamonds, created by Toronto-based Kilani Jewelry, which has also made pieces for Drake and DJ Khaled. Curry also owns a much more personal diamond chain featuring the names of his four children set in pavé diamonds.
