Police have arrested former National Football League star Lawrence Taylor in a rape investigation in New York, authorities said Thursday.
The Town of Ramapo Police Department issued a statement saying Taylor had been arrested as part of an investigation into a report of a rape Thursday in Montebello, New York.
Taylor, a linebacker for the New York Giants from 1981 to 1993, was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999.
Now 51 years old, he was known in his pro days for his “great intensity, speed, and strength-fueled attack style,” the Hall of Fame says, adding that he “redefined the way outside linebacker position was played.”
