John Chavis Memorial Park and the Heart of Carolina Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen are partnering to bring you the 2025 Youth Aviation Academy.

This free program will consist of five independent sessions and is designed to encourage students ages 9-16 to learn about the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen, careers in aviation and aeronautics, and flight in the 21st century. The curriculum will include Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), and interactive learning.

Dates and Times

  • Sept. 10, 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
    Legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen, Aviation Career Panel, and Light Breakfast Refreshments
  • Oct. 4, 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
    Principles of Flight, Forces of Flight Session with Hands-On Activities, and Light Breakfast Refreshments
  • Oct. 11, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
    Field Trip to the NCDOT Aviation Hangar at RDU Airport (Transportation and Lunch provided for Students)
  • Nov. 1, 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
    Flight Simulator Session I, Virtual Reality, Aviation Trivia, and Light Breakfast Refreshments
  • Dec. 6, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
    Flight Simulator Session II, Drones, Paper Airplane Contest, and Pizza Party

Cost: Free – Registration is Encouraged
