In a lively interview, Kandi Burruss recently joined Gary With Da Tea and Shamea Morton for a chat that was as insightful as it was entertaining. Gary kicked off the conversation by praising Kandi’s extensive talents as a producer, singer, songwriter, actress, and all-around powerhouse, while Shamea playfully introduced herself as “little baby Kandi.”

Kandi shared exciting news about the record-breaking run of “The Wiz” on Broadway. “We broke records,” she exclaimed, expressing gratitude to everyone who bought tickets and made them “a new spot in history.” Shamea added, “I’m so proud of you. Like, you just continue to raise the bar. I mean, just when you think we’ve seen it all, you just do something else. So I’m so inspired for sure.”

The conversation soon shifted to the genuine bond between Kandi and Shamea. Gary observed their interactions, noting their lack of conflict. Kandi affirmed, “We’ve never had a fight.” Shamea clarified, “No. And if we if we have a little then we fix it. That’s what sisters do.” They briefly touched on a past misunderstanding where Shamea felt Kandi wasn’t supporting her, which Kandi acknowledged was “a long time ago.”

Gary then brought up the idea that “women with money don’t fight.” Kandi quipped, “I knew her before she had got some money, though.” Shamea, ever quick-witted, responded, “Well, you’re always gonna have money… When it’s not new to you, it’s true to you.”

A truly touching moment came when Gary discovered the extent of Kandi’s support for Shamea’s career. While Portia initially introduced Shamea to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” group, Kandi was instrumental in getting her a “peach” (a full-time housewife role). Kandi explained, “I kept calling the people’s like, ‘Hey. Y’all need to get her on the show. Every year. Like, yo. Y’all missing out. Y’all need to make her housewife.'”

Shamea further revealed how Kandi advocated for her in her radio career, calling program directors to get her on the morning show. Kandi humbly stated, “I help a lot of people behind the scenes. It doesn’t I don’t have to post or tweet about it.” She emphasized that she sees her friends not as competition but as fellow winners, recognizing that “we all can do the same thing at the same time, but we all got our own secret sauce.”

Shamea excitedly shared that she’ll be attending her very first BET Awards, a sign she’s “leveled up a little bit.” Kandi offered advice, describing the event as a “family reunion” where artists and colleagues connect.

Looking ahead, Kandi mentioned more theater projects are in the pipeline, though she prefers to keep details under wraps until they’re finalized. She also plugged her girl group, Siren, who have an EP dropping soon.

When asked about balancing her many ventures, Kandi stressed the importance of having a good team and keeping a very strict calendar. However, she admitted, “I do feel like sometimes it’s stressful to be hid everywhere for everybody as well. So I’m trying to figure it out to have more fun.” Gary expressed his admiration, noting how Kandi’s ability to trust people in her team is a quality he wishes he possessed more of.

The interview concluded with Gary jokingly lobbying for a spot on Kandi’s “Speak on It” podcast, promising not to “get nasty,” despite Kandi’s playful skepticism. It was clear that the mutual respect and affection between these three media personalities ran deep.
