The sports world was in a frenzy over a situation between Miami Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland and the newly-drafted Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant.

In a meeting the two had before the NFL draft, Ireland had asked Bryant if his mother was a prostitute. This is pretty blunt to ask anyone and definitely offensive. Even if it was a fact that his mother did have an unsavory past was it really any business of the coach? “My mom is not a prostitute,” Bryant told Yahoo! Sports. “I got mad – really mad – but I didn’t show it.”

Due to the stern backlash the coach has deemed it necessary to issue and apology while defending is stance and explaining wy he prompted such a question.

Dez Bryant stated “My job is to find out as much information as possible about a player that I’m considering drafting,” Ireland said in a statement. “Sometimes that leads to asking in-depth questions. Having said that, I talked to Dez Bryant and told him I used poor judgment in one of the questions I asked him. I certainly meant no disrespect and apologized to him.
