A few drivers traveling Interstate 40, filled their wallets with some quick cash when the door of an armored truck opened and cash fell out. A Loomis armored truck was traveling east on I-40 near U.S. 1 when the back door opened when an employee tried to secure it. A brick of money fell from the open door, and an undisclosed amount of $20 bills scattered along the highway. It looked like a scene from a movie when drivers stopped to pick up their bounty, but by the time police arrived the money was gone.

Police say some people did contact the armor truck company and returned some money. Anyone wishing to return the money should all 919-469-5992 or return it to the company’s facility at 125 Nova Drive in Morrisville.
