After Hurricane Matthew made its way through the Atlantic and up the east coast, hundreds were reported dead in Haiti, 10 in North Carolina, six in Florida, four in Georgia and one in South Carolina, according to ABC11.

Never donate over the phone, email or unknown social media pages, as these are easier for scammers to target, according to ABC11. Instead, send a check or donate through the charity’s website.
