August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play, “Fences,” will soon be on the silver screen and could be in contention for an Oscar. Washington plays Troy Maxson, a working class former baseball player who struggles to provide for his family in 1950s Pittsburgh. Davis plays his wife Rose.
Washington won a Best Actor Tony for his performance opposite Viola Davis, who also won a Tony in the play adaptation.
Look for “Fences” in theaters on December 25, 2016. Washington also directs the film.
