Baltimore Police Sgt. Alicia White and officer William Porter are scheduled to receive $96,855 and $70,523, respectively, when Baltimore City’s Board of Estimates authorizes a back pay deposit scheduled for August 24. Jennifer Holliday, the original “Dreamgirl,” is taking on the enigmatic role of “Shug Avery” in Broadway’s revival of The Color Purple. Holliday will replace singer Heather Headley, who currently stars as Avery, on October 4. Ken Thompson, Brooklyn’s district attorney, faces a $15,000 fine after city officials say he used NYPD bodyguards to pay for his lunch, then reimbursed them with taxpayer funds. The Conflicts of Interest Board ruled on Tuesday after revealing that Thompson repeatedly asked security detail to purchase food with their own money during the first five months of his tenure in 2014. Read more.
