In case you were hoping that Donald Trump would make an appearance at this year’s NAACP national convention, we have bad news.
He’s not going to be there.
The Republican convention and the NAACP convention are happening at the same time, true. But they are both in Ohio and are taking place in Cleveland and Cincinnati respectively, cities that are only around 40 minutes apart by plane.
Hillary Clinton will speak at the event. The NAACP issued a statement about Trump after finding out that he wouldn’t be attending:
You can’t run for president and not talk about police misconduct and police brutality. You can’t run for president and not talk about this country’s civil rights agenda. This is an important moment, and our convention is an opportunity for anyone running for president to provide a window into not only their policies, but into their heart and character as a candidate.
