Social media was abuzz this weekend, after a 4-year old boy slipped into the gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo. Harambe, a 400-pound endangered gorilla carried the boy around its habitat for about 10 minutes. However, the boy was not under attack, but zoo officials felt is was necessary to shoot the animal instead of use a tranquilizer, because the animal was agitated.
After the gorilla was put down, the child was taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Where lies the blame? How does a child climb through a railing and fall in the enclosure? And where were the parents?
