One school system in North Carolina has voted to allow high school students to carry pepper spray in school starting this fall.
According to ABC11, the Rowan-Salisbury board of education approved this policy change on Monday. One school board member mentioned that pepper spray could be a good defense to use if a student is confronted by a transgender person in a bathroom.
Board member Chuck Hughes was quoted as saying, “Depending on how the courts rule on the bathroom issues, it may be a pretty valuable tool to have on the female students if they go to the bathroom, not knowing who may come in.”
