Our state is in a battle with the Department of Justice concerning House Bill 2. Supporters of the bill say it is designed to keep people safe in public restrooms. This would limit transgendered individuals to the bathroom matching their biological sex…not bathrooms that match their gender identity.
Others argue that this bill is simply designed to discriminate against transgendered citizens who already have to struggle to be accepted by society.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch made it clear yesterday that the Obama administration and the Department of Justice do not agree with our state’s new law.
