It’s been reported that Soul/Funk singer Leon Haywood passed away earlier today at the age of 74. Haywood is a Houston, Texas native who was met with success on the music scene during the mid-1970s. Many people today remember the melodies from one of his most sampled songs I Want’a Do Something Freaky To You.
Leon Haywood had a string of songs that impacted the world of R&B including Strokin’, Keep It in the Family, and It’s Got to Be Mellow. His most successful song according to Billboard was the disco hit Don’t Push It Don’t Force It which reached number two on the R&B charts in 1980.
