Last night’s episode of The People Vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story was all about Marcia Clark. They even titled the episode, Marcia, Marcia Marcia.
The things that stood out the most about Marcia Clark in the actual O.J. Simpson trial were about her hair, her attitude and her attire. The media almost trained us to dislike this woman. People were constantly debating her physical appearance on talk shows and on the radio.
But last night’s episode of the mini-series had some of us re-thinking what we thought we knew about Marcia Clark. Yes, she was the aggressive prosecutor who was clearly convinced that O.J. Simpson was guilty of murder. But did you know that she was dealing with child custody issues? Or that her former mother-in-law sold nudes of her to the tabloids? Or that Johnnie Cochran made comments about her childcare issues in open court?
Marcia Clark was essentially bombarded with sexist comments during the entire trial. Two people were dead and folks were laughing at her hair. HER HAIR.
Social media became aware of her struggle while watching the episode.
