Only musicians of a certain caliber can release a new album without the extravagant marketing and promotion ploys most major artists need to garner attention. If there’s one legend that should be the face of that faction, it has to be Prince. This past Saturday Prince released “HITNRUN: Phase Two” as a follow up to the first installment “HITNRUN: Phase One” released in September of this year. The new 12 track album was released exclusively on Tidal streaming and is also available for purchase on iTunes and other digital platforms.
The first track titled Baltimore will be a time stamp for generations to come. Prince wrote the song after putting together a benefit concert for the city of Baltimore this past May in the wake of rioting over the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody. This is definitely a song residents of Baltimore should hear as they try to remain strong through learning of the mistrial declared today in the first trial of the six accused officers.
