There are only 11 more days to sign up for health coverage through healthcare.gov or your health carrier of choice.

Folks can go online to UnitedHealthcare or call 1-844-JOIN-UHC to find a plan that works for them. There are a few things to remember when choosing a plan:

  • Everyone should have coverage, including children
  • Preventive care is covered, which is so important to keep up with health conditions that are often prevalent in our community, like diabetes and cancer.
  • Did you know that you or your family may qualify for federal financial assistance or a subsidy?
  • You can’t be denied coverage due to a pre-existing condition, which is especially important in our community
  • Navigators, who have been trained to educate about health plans, are available to those who may want help locally.
  • Don’t wait until the last minute! UnitedHealthcare or call 1-844-JOIN-UHC before 2/15/15 to find a plan that works for you and get covered today!

ADDITIONAL POINTS:

  • Young adults may stay on their parent’s insurance plan until age 26 — even if they are married, not in school, financially independent or not living with their parents.

Before you enroll, make sure you understand how your plan works:

  • Is your doctor/hospital in the network?
  • Are your medications covered?
  • Do you know the monthly premium, deductible and co-payment amounts?
